Title-- Morning After
Rating and Warnings-- G; no warnings, except a vague and philosophical mention of death. Oh, and a warning for severe cuteness. ^^;;
Species and Characters-- Species = Korat. Characters are Atumi, black male, and Jysulehn, red female (who is
poetrywolf's char and used with permission), both of whom reside in KRPG.
Summary and Notes-- Disclaimer: these two characters, at the time in which this shidbit takes place, are not yet mates, merely courting. Therefore the immediate implications of "Morning After" are incorrect. ^^;; This takes place shortly after Black & White & Red All Over and therefore is soon after Wureshi's death. Which is several--ten?--years in the future of KRPG's current timeline.
Death is a passing thing. It comes and goes, entering one's life in a thunderous cloud of hideous pain and gore and then leaving almost as quickly as it came, naught but memories and shock in its wake. Every once in a while, death will be something to celebrate.
That night, they had celebrated death.
Black-lidded eyes eased open slowly, the mind behind the water-hued gaze not entirely awake and able to process what those keen eyes saw. A field of textured blood rose and fell right next to his muzzle, regularly, and the wind gusted in time with the rhythm of the movement. Then, comprehension flipped on like a mental switch, brought to life by a thick, very familiar scent--Jysulehn. The warmth that the massive red generated wafted around him, paired with her scent, and he closed his eyes again and didn't move from his position, entwined with the bulkier Korat.
One predator-gold eye slitted open and something of a grin tugged at a black-rimmed muzzle as the red looked upon the black's face. She'd never before seen him so comfortable and relaxed--"content" was something Atumi never seemed to be. But, in the back of her mind, Jy wagered that, if she didn't move for another hour, he wouldn't, either. And that elicited a full-fledged grin that bared thick fangs and brushed long whiskers across the male's closed eyelids. He flicked an ear and wrinkled his nose, then opened one eye to match hers and grinned without so much as creasing his muzzle.
Jysulehn never understood how he did that.
"Mm, 'morn," the master muttered, leaning away from the red's so-close muzzle to yawn luxuriously, tongue lolling out in rather endearing cuteness before he shut his jaws and nestled back into the fold of Jy's thick neck. She laughed, a growling sound of thunder and stampedes that somehow seemed more amused than even a tan's soprano titter, and rested her blocky muzzle on the male's sleek-furred skull. The two stayed like that for another full hour as Ghrayu's bloody rays paled to a gentler pastel orange as the great orb rose higher in the sky, and the rustle of beasts around them--nonsentient and intelligent both--didn't seem like a threat anymore. Nothing was a threat, now that the greatest danger posed to the Koratian race had been eradicated.
Once awake, always awake, and Jy's yellow gaze roamed the softly rolling plainslands restlessly, though she was reluctant to end this comfortable time with Atumi. But, a red can only be patient for so long, and scenting a Trahe passing by half a mile off, she flared her whiskers in distaste for her vulnerable position. "Going to wake up any time today, mri'tho?" she rumbled teasingly, tilting her head slightly to peer down at the black's still-closed eyes. He didn't bother replying, instead actually burrowing deeper into the red's embrace, somewhat to her surprise. Another rich chuckle escaped her furled throat and she decided that, just this once, she could indulge his whims.
After all, if Atumi was in a cuddly mood, who was she to deny him?
